Recruitment timeline

Recruitment will be starting in February. If you are interested in returning as a Res Tech for 2003/04, you need to follow these guidelines:

January 20, 2003: By this date, you will have decided whether or not you are interested in returning as a Res Tech for the 2003/04 academic year.

If, by January 20, 2003, you have not informed me of your desire to return, I will consider you non-returning, and your building will be open for recruitment of new staff. This deadline is important, because I need to guarantee your placement in your assigned building by the middle of March, and prep time for interviews and evaluations take a while.

February 3, 2003: By this date, you will have decided which building you would like to be assigned to. If it is a building other than the one you live in, you will obviously need to be living there.

The interviews for those interested in returning will begin around mid-February. This will be the evaluation. While you receive first consideration for the building you request, your desire to return, and your request for a building assignment are NO GUARANTEE you will be asked back. Your performance will have determined that.

Any building not requested will be open for recuitment of new staff.

Interviews will take place, whenever possible, in the office of the RD in the building you have requested.

Removing hidden Windows XP components

In Windows 98/ME, if you want to add/remove a component of Windows, such as UPnP, DUN, etc., all you need to do is go to the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Windows Setup tab, choose the component family, and then specify the component to add or remove. In Windows XP, some components are missing, and so may not be available to remove or add, should the user so desire. You can control which items are shown, and which are not shown using the following method.

- Navigate to the following file: c:\windows\inf\sysoc.inf
- Open sysoc.inf.
- Under the [Components] section, recognize some of the common components (such as MSN Messenger), and see if, at the end of the line, the word 'hide' is present. In front and in back of 'hide' are comma's.
- If 'hide' is present at the end of the line, you can delete the word, but LEAVE THE FRONT AND REAR COMMA'S.
- Save the file and restart.

This is useful if the student wishes to remove components such as MSN Messenger.
