you troubleshoot a connection problem, you have to determine
whether the problem stems from the computer or from the port.
You have been given laptops to definitively make this decision.
There is a process to testing the connection, and this process
is as follows.
Always ensure that your system is
in good working order and consistently connects to the internet. |

Check the basics

- Are there lights on the adapter in the computer
in question?
- Use a known good cable in place of the student's cable.
- Check all network settings to make sure that configurations
aren't responsible.
- Re-install TCP/IP.
- Uninstall any Nethancer or Webcellerator programs.
- Once you've checked all of this, connect your laptop into the
port in question.
The
adapter light is off, and the computer is receiving a 169 or 0
ip

- There is a problem with the port or its wiring.
- You are in no position to fix this.

- A light always means that there is a signal between
the port and the adapter.
- This situation indicates a problem with the connection script
or the server.

no internet
