You no longer need to obtain a separate PPP account. As of January 2001 if you have a valid email account you can use that for PPP. The PPP accounts that were set up in the past will NOT work any longer. If you forgot your email password please contact the Information Technology Help Desk.

With either the Windows or Macintosh software, your username and PPP password are entered in the "connection window". You can choose to have the program remember your password so you never have to type it again. If, after your modem has dialed the system, you are asked for your username and password again, it is likely that the password you are typing is incorrect. First, be sure you are typing in your Email password. If you forgot your email password or it doesn't seem to be working please contact the Information Technology Help Desk.

The two biggest problems with staying connected to the Dial-up Internet connection are: first, the phone line quality; second, the modems ability to stay connected to the phone line. Name brand modems such as US Robotics, Practical Peripherals, and Supra, tend to keep their connections better than non-name brand modems. If you are having problems staying connected, try the solution on our "PPP Page" entitled "Having TroubleStaying Connected?".
