Install and Configure Heat on Windows Vista

This guide will show you how to install and configure Heat in Windows Vista



1.Download and install .Net Framwork 1.1
2. Create your ODBC connection manually using hddb.oneonta.edu as the server and SQL server as the driver.

A.Control panel -> System and Maintanence -> Admin Tools -> Data Sources
B.Select the tab for system DSN
C.Click Add
D.Select the SQL Server for the driver
E.Click finish
F.Enter A Name for the Data source you can use HEAT
G.Enter A Description for the Data source you can use HEAT
H.Enter the Server outrun
I.Click Next
J.Click Next
K.Click Next
L.Click Finished
M.Click Test data source if you like It should test successfully
N.Click OK

3. Install Heat from the Command Prompt

3.1 Run a CMD prompt as administrator. To do this:

A. Type CMD into start search box
B. CMD.EXE will appear under programs in the start menu.
C. Right click CMD.EXE and choose Run as Administrator


3.2 Run the heat installer from the command line.

A.Type \outrunheatinstall$heat.msi (you need to be logged into the domain to do this or useNET USE to map a drive via the command prompt)

4. Run Call Logging from HEAT you may have to select your newly created data source from step 2F above when you run call logging for the first time.
